Anti-Fraud and Quality Control Measures
At WEVO, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of respondent data is central to the integrity of our insights. To safeguard against fraudulent, low-quality, and AI-generated survey submissions, WEVO employs a multi-layered quality framework that combines the strengths of our panel partners’ advanced fraud-prevention systems with WEVO’s own proprietary screening and human-validated review.
While both WEVO and our partners employ extensive validation and behavioral monitoring systems, the risk of occasional fraudulent or AI-driven responses can never fully be eliminated. As fraud tactics continue to evolve, we regularly evaluate respondent quality and update our systems as much as possible to stay ahead of emerging threats. Our goal is to minimize the risk to be as close to zero as possible through continuous improvement and vigilant monitoring.
Quality Controls by our Panel Providers
Our panel vendors vendors apply extensive pre-survey and in-survey protections designed to confirm respondent legitimacy before they ever reach a WEVO experience
Before: Recruitment and Pre-Suvey Validation
- Global recruitment with double-opt-in, deep profiling, and benchmark testing.
- Digital fingerprinting applied via Device ForensIQ and Research Defender.
- Core checks: GEO-IP, address, mobile/email verification, pattern detection.
- Early engagement screening: open-end review, first impression scoring, respondent level red herrings (via Sentry).
- Behavioral monitoring tools to filter out suspicious or low authenticity participants.
During: In-Survey Monitoring
- Continuous behavioral and longitudinal scoring across all survey touchpoints.
- AI TextAnalyzer evaluates open-end quality in real time.
- Ongoing fraud checks: GEO-IP, address, mobile/email verification, reCAPTCHA, pattern/IP analysis, bot traps.
- RepScore tracking and early fraud scoring; biometric and AI chat screening in testing.
After: Post-Survey Quality Control
- Open-end review for fraud, duplication, and engagement issues.
- Red herrings, attention checks, speeder/straight-liner detection.
- Reward redemption and mobile verification for legitimacy.
- Post-survey IP/pattern analysis and RepScore updates for ongoing respondent reliability.
Internal Quality Controls
In addition to our vendors’ safeguards, WEVO applies its own internal, multi-stage review process that further protects against AI-generated and fraudulent participation.
In-Survey Quality Screens
- WEVO deploys rotating red herring questions across studies to surface bots or inattentive participants early in the experience, serving as a first-line filter.
- Time requirements and minimum response lengths are also set to catch any speeders or inattentive respondents.
Automated Post-Submission Grooming
- Each submitted response is processed by WEVO’s automated quality groomer, which evaluates submissions against a broad set of behavioral, linguistic, and metadata-based criteria.
- If overall quality fails to meet WEVO’s defined standards, or if a response triggers too many red flag indicators, it is automatically rejected.
- This system provided a consistent quality baseline across all studies.
Human Review
- For any study that includes Key Findings, all responses that pass through the automated layer are then manually reviewed by WEVO’s analysis team.
- Analysts assess open ended responses, patterns, and contextual cues to ensure the submission is authentic and provides relevant feedback.
- Any responses that fail to meet these standards are rejected. The survey will recollect additional N to fill in the gap.
