Interviewing Personas with the Chat Assistant

Interviewing personas allows you to explore perspectives in depth by simulating a conversation with the users you’re designing for. Instead of only seeing what works or doesn’t, interviews help you understand why a persona reacts the way they do.

In Wevo Pulse, the Chat Assistant lets you conduct simulated interviews with your personas to dig deeper into motivations, expectations, concerns, and decision-making logic — all grounded in the experience you’re testing.

How to Start a Persona Interview

To begin, simply tell the Chat Assistant: “I’d like to interview [Persona Name].”

Once the interview starts, you can ask follow-up questions about how that persona experienced specific elements of your test, such as messaging, layout, navigation, trust signals, or value propositions.

What Makes a Good Interview Question

Strong interview questions help you uncover context and reasoning, not just surface reactions.

When writing questions:

  • Ask why something worked or didn’t
  • Focus on understanding expectations and interpretation
  • Tie questions to specific elements in the experience
  • Avoid leading the persona toward a “correct” answer

Think of the interview as a conversation where you’re trying to understand the persona’s mindset, not validate a design choice.
